Ahh . . . my neglected blog

I have been remiss in updating my blog lately.  I can't blame it on the Holidays, visiting family, or even my unnatural love of gingerbread men.  I have no excuse except sheer mental exhaustion and obsessive comparison shopping for e-readers.

The only thing on my 13 year old daughter's Christmas list is an e-reader.  Fantastic, that should be easy enough I thought until I found out just how many different e-readers there are out there.  Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Cruz, and the oh so amazing iPad to name a few.  So, I turn to you more technically savvy e-reader enjoyers; tell me which one to buy so I can cross her off my list.

  1. I had the same problem when I was shopping for one. So, I did the research, being analytical as I am. I bought the Nook. I haven't had any problems with it and it functions just the way I wanted it to (It's the more expensive version). I decided against the Ipad because it doesn't hold as many e-books. I've heard good things about the kindle as well. Hope this helps a little.

  2. I just bought myself the nook color for my birthday and so far I love it cause it can do some neat things. I am happy so far and it won't take up so much space at the house which will make Murphy happy.

    Best wishes.

  3. I have the kindle and the iPad (I know, tech dork) and I love my kindle. Primarily because their library is huge and their customer service is wonderful. Not color though, so if your daughter is looking for magazines the Nook might be better. iPad has a dinky library - I use it primarily for internet.

  4. I have a friend who bought the Nook as you can get books from B&N and Amazon (and elsewhere, too, I believe.) She said the Kindle only lets you download from Amazon.

Best of luck with your research! Let us know what you decide to get!

  5. Oh, my oh-so-neglected writing friend. First off, I miss you *sniff*. Second, I was just reading a comparison chart today and from what it said, the Kindle was top notch. Alas, I don't own an e-reader and was only browsing the bookstore, but I guess that's just my two cents worth. Thirdly, did I tell you I missed you?
