Inside Out

At 7:47pm I typed the very last word of my latest WIP Inside Out.   I thought I'd feel a sense of relief knowing that the MS was finally complete and now just needed to be fine-tuned.   Funny, I feel kind of depressed . .  almost lonely.  I'm not looking forward to leaving these set of characters behind as I hack out another imaginary life.

Is it just me or do my writer friends also feel a bit sad when they have to close the book on a set of characters you know as intimately as yourself?

  1. I understand the feeling. It feels like you are saying goodbye to your characters.

    Can't wait to read it!

  2. I completely understand! I have one series of books that I keep putting off writing the last one, just because I know how depressed I'll be when I'm actually done writing their story. They are so real to me, it'll be almost like a bereavement. Okay, and now I sound crazy. ;)

  3. I completely understand - it's like post-partum or something:) Though, I'm happy you finished!!

  4. I totally feel this way! With my last ms, I got really depressed as well. The funny thing is, they're still there, but somehow it's just not the same!

  5. I always feel sad, but then remember that they are there for me to pick up and read again. They will never really leave me and they make you a little stronger as you write the next one...at least they do for me.

I'm so proud of you...squee! That it is finished. I think it is sensational so far and I am sure that once I have to leave them I will be broken hearted as well.
