Goodreads and ARC Tours

As most of you know, I don't usually read my reviews on Goodreads. I have a couple of brave author friends who sift through them every week and forward me the ones that stand-out.  It's not because I don't want to interact with me readers (I ADORE MY READERS, would talk to them all day, everyday if I could) But rather because I don't want to be consumed by what other people think of my book. I don't want their expectations to define my voice, impact the decisions I make for my characters, and/or have me second guessing the pot direction I have chosen. Essentially, I write in a bubble, and any leak in that bubble before the first draft is done sets me off on a tailspin.

However, after a not so gentle nudge from a dear friends, I went into my Goodreads account to take a quick peek at how the ARCs for my YA Contemporary, THE SECRETS WE KEEP, are being received.  To say I was stunned, would be the understatement of the century.  So far, the early reviews are fantastic!

Here is one of my favorites:

"I read this book in one sitting, locking doors and turning off phones so I could discover how it ends. Yeah, it's that good. Trisha Leaver's voice is one of my absolute favorites--so strong and unique and authentic--and the world in THE SECRETS WE KEEP is so compelling, the plot so twisty, that it is difficult, if not impossible, to put down.
You don't want to miss this one, guys: five gigantic stars."
~Marci Curtis, author or THE ONE THING (Disney-Hyperion, 2015)

If you haven't added it to your TBR Pile, here's the Goodreads link.  I am still in the process of setting up the ARC tours so, if you want to be an early reviewer and aren't opposed to moving the ARC along after you have read it, leave me a comment, and I will be in touch :)

Here It Is...The Cover to THE SECRETS WE KEEP

Seventeen-year-old Ella Lawton spent her entire life living in the shadows of her identical twin sister's popularity, but she never dreamed of having Maddy’s life; never wanted it. In fact, she’s spent the last three years trying to separate herself from the group at school Maddy has chosen, preferring the quiet, safe confines of her sketchbook and the company of her best friend, Josh, to the constant battle for attention and popularity that has defined her sister’s life.

When a heated argument and a tragic accident leaves her sister dead, Ella wakes up in the hospital surrounded by friends and loved ones who believe she is Maddy. She is overwhelmed by their joy when they realize she will live - a joy Ella is sure she would not see if they knew the truth, that it is Ella who survived, not her lovable, popular sister. After what she has done, she cannot bring herself to cause even more heartache and in that moment she makes the gut wrenching decision to assume her sister’s life. Navigating her sister’s popularity and boyfriend are hard enough, but Ella soon realizes that Maddy’s life is full of secrets that have kept her popularity intact while slowly destroying her from the inside out. Caught in a web of lies and with no escape in sight, Ella is faced with two options - confess her deception and risk the hatred and betrayal of those around her, or give up all of her own dreams and continue down the destructive path her sister's life has mapped out for her.

I absolutely adore the cover, but as you probably guessed, I am a little biased. That said, I would love to hear your thoughts.

THE SECRETS WE KEEP is now up on Goodreads so head on over and add it to your TBR pile!

ARCs tours start soon. If you are a librarian, high school teacher, teen reader, or a book blogger/ reviewer and would like to be part of the ARC tours, please fill out the form on my website

The Cover for THE SERETS WE KEEP is Finally Here!

I first got a glimpse of the cover to my YA Contemporary, THE SECRETS WE KEEP, back in March. I got to see it in real life when my ARC's arrived last week. And now I get to share it with the world!

...but not here.

See, I wrote this book about sisters, then dedicated to my sister who is my biggest cheerleader. But the coolest part--FSG/ Macmillan is releasing it the day before my sister's birthday. Although I had no control over the release date, I think it is beautifully perfect (and now I don't have to by her a present. LOL) So of course, it only made sense for the Jamie at Fictionfare to reveal my cover....because you guessed it: SHE IS A TWIN!

So here you go: the link that will lead you to my cover reveal!
